Gothic architecture of Prague

Prague architecture is a huge range of styles, but it is not surprising, since the city was created over many centuries. Then there are the palaces, castles, houses that embody the spirit of the Renaissance, Baroque or Romanesque style.

However, special attention should be paid to the Gothic architecture of this amazing city. Structures that were built a thousand years ago, create a unique atmosphere of Prague. It is believed that it is through architecture, the city became one of the most popular tourist centers of modern Europe. Of course, walking around Prague, be sure to visit the cathedrals built in the Gothic style.

St. Vitus Cathedral is Prague Castle. This is a real example of Gothic architecture of Prague. The Cathedral was started in 1344, but was finally completed only in 1929. As a result managed to build a magnificent building, the height of the arch is thirty-three meters. Previously all there was crowned king of Bohemia, and in the crypts of the Cathedral was buried the great rulers of Bohemia.

The Church of Saint Martin was built in the XII century. During the reign of Charles IV, the Church was rebuilt in the Gothic style. Then in 1490 held a second reconstruction, during which the Church acquired a modern look. Gothic style – Gothic style in the interior

First, the word “Gothic” was used in literature when the author wanted to somewhat ironic to denote in the text distorted Latin. Later Gothic became a definite architectural style, which in a nutshell can be called eerily majestic.
