Gothic architecture of Prague

Prague architecture is a huge range of styles, but it is not surprising, since the city was created over many centuries. Then there are the palaces, castles, houses that embody the spirit of the Renaissance, Baroque or Romanesque style.

However, special attention should be paid to the Gothic architecture of this amazing city. Structures that were built a thousand years ago, create a unique atmosphere of Prague. It is believed that it is through architecture, the city became one of the most popular tourist centers of modern Europe. Of course, walking around Prague, be sure to visit the cathedrals built in the Gothic style.

St. Vitus Cathedral is Prague Castle. This is a real example of Gothic architecture of Prague. The Cathedral was started in 1344, but was finally completed only in 1929. As a result managed to build a magnificent building, the height of the arch is thirty-three meters. Previously all there was crowned king of Bohemia, and in the crypts of the Cathedral was buried the great rulers of Bohemia.

The Church of Saint Martin was built in the XII century. During the reign of Charles IV, the Church was rebuilt in the Gothic style. Then in 1490 held a second reconstruction, during which the Church acquired a modern look. Ancient underground structures

The sanctuary, close to Mayak, which was excavated in the Northern Caucasus, in early medieval Bulgaria. All of them are built on the principle of “square in square”, that is, inside a large rectangular or square structures there is less, if a rectangular square shape, inside of which a fire was burning. This is one of the characteristic traditions of the Turkic religious buildings where worship of fire, sun, light has occupied an important place.

In 1988 in the study of Vlasov Second burial ground of the bronze age and early iron age, situated 2 miles North of the village of Vlasivka of Gribanovsky area of the Voronezh region (excavations by A. T. Sinica and D. V. Berezutsky) revealed very interesting and totally unique building – underground labyrinth, construction area of about 254 square meters (the scheme ). Continue reading
