Underground palaces – Huashan
The ancient trail
Blooming mountain Huashan is called because the peaks of this complex of five mountains form a Lotus flower. The mountains are at a distance of approximately 1-2 miles from each other and oriented to the cardinal points: center, South, North, East, West. Mount Huashan — the sacred mountain of the West. It should be noted that this extraordinarily beautiful area, but ascending to the top of the complex very dangerous. The paths leading to the peaks, very narrow, 12 km long Entangling his serpentine rocks, they eventually converge at the highest point of the complex at the altitude of 2 100 m. mostly to be done this way can only be solved pilgrims. Sometimes they have to travel way across the narrow bridges attached by chains to the cliffs, which requires considerable physical strength and endurance, and most importantly, enviable determination. Because most of the wooden bridges built many centuries ago.
The path leading to the top, passing by Taoist monasteries, some buildings date back to the 11th century, for example, the Huayang temple and the palaces of the yuan dynasty. But the main part of the buildings of a later period, referring to the rule of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The Huashan complex by the decision of UNESCO included in the List of natural heritage.
Secrets, skrytyi mountain
Unusual and hard-to-reach Huashan mountain today became even more famous thanks to a great man-made caves found in it at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. All who were lucky enough to see them, unanimously considered to cave one of the wonders of the world. These unique dungeons in the cliffs of the southern part of Anhui province (China) to the East of Tunxi city were accidentally discovered in 1999. They were discovered by a local farmer, who was so impressed that he found it necessary to report his findings to the authorities. And he was right: the cave caused in the scientific world a true sensation. In the area of Huashan rushed scientists, researchers, journalists and tourists.
The caves are located at 30 degrees North latitude, that is on the same parallel with the pyramids of Giza. the sacred mount Kailas in Tibet and the Bermuda triangle, and how would this mysterious short circuit. It is unlikely that such an arrangement can be considered an accident.
To date, scientists know of 36 caves, how many of them actually, no one knows. It remains a mystery and the answer to the question whether there is a message between them or each of them is a separate building.
When conducted a preliminary examination of caves researchers were surprised by the size of the seen. Underground complex of mount Huashan was surpassed in size all known similar structures. All 36 caves have been assigned sequence numbers, and many of them do not yet have names. For example, the total area of the 2nd and 35th caves exceeded 17 thousand sq. m. At approximate calculation when the clearance was removed 20 thousand cube m of crushed stone and pound and pumped out 18 tons of water. Three powerful pump, worked there for 12 days. Now the premises are open to the public.
The cave room 35 is also called the underground Palace. Apparently, this honorable name was given to her for a truly Royal size. It is located at a depth of 170 m, and the total area is 12600 sq. m. the Entrance is small. To get to this magnificence, you need to pass a 20-meter tunnel. In the middle of the underground Palace there are 26 huge stone columns which support the arches of the cave. These gigantic pillars are ten-odd feet in diameter. As we move into the cave the impression that they would be apart, forming a triangle.
The Palace impresses not only that: one of its walls, having a width of 15 m and a length of 30 m, situated under the angle of 45 degrees. Scientists using infrared rays were able to establish that this wall is created by nature and is a natural formation.
Here you can see the underground lakes and pools with crystal clear water through which one can see the bottom. Separate rooms, stone staircases, bridges over the underground river… it is interesting that all these water bodies are below the level of the river Xingan flowing in the valley of Huashan mountain, at seven feet. It is surprising scientists and strange two-tier structure with a balcony, which offers visitors a panorama of the whole cave.
Another cave called Huangshi also has a huge area — 4 800 sq m with a length of 140 m. Inside it has several rooms: a spacious hall with columns, basins and several small rooms on both sides of the tunnel.
It should be noted that all underground facilities multilayered and have irregular, bizarre shape. However, it seems that the one who created, thought out in great detail. Recently in the 2nd and 36th caves discovered 18 bas-reliefs.
Are not all these stone bridges, staircases, balconies, columns can’t be evidence that the caves are of artificial origin?
The fact that the caves were built by people who have no doubt. Take, for example, traces of tool similar to the trace of the chisel, which are visible on the surface of ceilings and walls. But what was that tool that creates such grooves, and how they carved the stone: pieces or removed completely, as also did the ancient builders of forests is still unclear. Maybe people just used what was already created by nature. If we assume that the rock was hollowed out, then they would have to take out of these places not less than 100 thousand cubic meters of stone! So many rocks you can quite put road length of 240 km. in fact, the Chinese much. The mystery remains, where did these dumps, because no trace of the extracted species are not detected. Built homes? No, all houses built of blue stone, and Hua Shan is composed of variegated rocks.
The next question that put scientists in a deadlock: how much technology was used by the builders, if the angle of inclination of the inner walls with accuracy repeats exterior angle of the mount and the turns? If they didn’t, you probably broke the hole out. How people managed to achieve such an unusual interior? Again, they couldn’t work in complete darkness, then somehow lit the room, but no trace of fire or smoke is detected…
Absolutely amazing seems the fact that the caves completely devoid of echo, the vaults and walls are arranged in such a way that they absorb sound, providing a complete silence. For what? Perhaps the echo could stop to say a prayer .
Surprising that such a large-scale construction is not described anywhere. In the manuscript of a Chinese historian of the Han dynasty (135-87 BC), there is mention of Huashan mountain, but not the caves. He wrote that the Chinese rulers came to the mountain to pray there to the gods and to their ancestors. Perhaps it is in the caves, what were the prayer, because it is unlikely that the emperors had done the difficult way to the top.
The purpose of the construction of the caves still remains a mystery. The fact that they were built not for living, no doubt. Then what? Still, for meditation and worship? However, they do not have any murals or any deities, therefore, it is doubtful that they served religious purposes. If this is still the ancient temples. what rites were held in them, and most importantly, by whom?
Maybe the reason is much more prosaic and there’s just got stone? Only why was it necessary to complicate a problem? The stone is quite possible to produce on the surface of the mountain, not inside it. As the storage of grain they are also not suitable because of high humidity.
Or was it some secret facility? The place of deployment of troops, for example. Versions you can think of a great many, but none of them yet confirmed evidence.
In search of truth
The study of caves continues. Scientists are trying to find passages and tunnels, which would connect the separate rooms. In the research process, new discoveries. Thus, there were discovered ceramic products, according to experts, established in the years 265-420, in the era of the Jin dynasty. Based on the analysis of stalactites and walls of the caves was determined by their estimated age of 1700 years. But it is possible that the caves are much older than scientists assume. Issues accumulated a lot of work researchers will last for years to come.
